Located in Castagnola on the slope of Monte Brè, the San Michele Park offers the most fascinating panoramic view of Lugano. Immersed in this enchanted place, the city below and its traffic seem insignificant in comparison to the view and the inspiring nature.
Behind the chapel dedicated to San Michele, there is the main terrace of the park, from which you can enjoy a unique view. From this privileged position, you can admire the gulf of Lugano, the Lido and the lakefront. The view reaches the majestic MountSan Salvatore that stands out in the sky. In the distance appear the peaks of the Alps in a variety of shapes and colors that become incandescent at sunset. On the left, the view ranges from Melide, Campione and Bissone to the plains of Lombardy.
The San Michele Park is characterized not only by the sight of rare beauty, but also by some wonderful architectural elements: the chapel dedicated to San Michele and some stone sculptures. The Park also has a rich vegetation: its paths lead through atypical southern vegetation, plenty of wisteria, oleander, oak, elm, hornbeam, ash and laurels. The San Michele Park is located in Castagnola and can be reached in 5 minutes' by foot from the parking of Ruvigliana, from the church of Castagnola and from the intermediate stop of the funicular Monte Brè.
